If your home was build after 1975 you could get a discount on you insurance by having a Wind Mitigation Verification Inspection.  You need to call your insurance agent or representative to see percentage of the discount. The inspection covers the roof, roof deck attachment, roof to wall attachment, roof, geometry, gable end bracing, secondary water resistance, and opening protection. The inspection needs to be done by a licensed contractor in florida, building code compliance, registered architect or an engineer in the state of florida.
